Office Visits

Welcome to Bellard Orthodontics!

The Initial Consultation

Your initial consultation will give you the opportunity to meet our team, learn more about orthodontics, receive a complete initial examination, and find out which treatment options will best meet your needs. During your initial consultation, we will:

  • Review your dental and medical history forms
  • Provide a complete oral exam, with X-rays and photographs of your teeth, to determine if treatment is necessary
  • Help you create a customized treatment plan
  • Discuss all financial information, insurance options, and payment plans

We will be glad to answer any questions you may have, and we will provide all of the information you need to determine which treatment is right for you. Please give us a call to schedule your initial consultation!

What happens after the initial consultation?

If treatment is indicated, we will make models of your teeth and Dr. Bellard will finalize your treatment plan. He will then select your precision appliances and customize them for your specific needs. At your first treatment visit, these appliances are carefully placed on the teeth and you are on your way to a beautiful and healthy smile.

Scheduling Appointments

Maintaining regular visits with our office (about every four to eight weeks) is a vital part of your orthodontic treatment. We will work with you to make sure your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you.

We know that most parents would prefer that their children not miss any school for their orthodontic visits.  That isn't really possible, though, since most of our patients are school age children. To help make this less of a concern, we've done the following things to help:

  • We offer a limited number of before school and after school appointments. Please note, though, that some appointments will have to be scheduled during routine school hours.
  • Routine appointments are scheduled about six weeks apart, so over the course of the school year, there are only about four to six absences required.
  • We provide a variety of appointment times so that your child doesn't have to miss the same class repeatedly.
  • We  provide you with detailed school excuse slips that allow the absence to be an officially "excused" absence.
  • We are very punctual and allow your child to get back to school without delay.

We understand that “life happens”, so if you need to reschedule, please let us know, and we will do everything we can to accommodate you. Please try to give us at least 24 hours notice if at all possible.

Visiting the dentist during orthodontic treatment

It is also very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure you are receiving the best care possible.
